Westville

The three sisters located off the coast of Chignecto Provincial Park

The town of Westville, in Pictou County, was incorporated in 1894 as a coal mining community. And although the coal mines have been closed for many years, the Westville Miners Museum pays tribute to the town's mining heritage.

Today Westville has evolved into a rural residential community with a mix of amenities that cater to the well-being of its residents. Local shops and services, schools, a library, and a recreation centre are at residents’ service. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore nearby natural attractions, such as the Allan Park, which provides green spaces, walking trails, and recreational facilities for residents to enjoy.

The residents of Westville consider themselves to be resilient, determined, passionate, proud people who embrace their roots. The highlight of the town’s celebrations is July 1st Canada Day Celebrations, said to be the longest continuous celebration of July 1st in Canada.
