Membertou

Membertou is an urban Mi’kmaq community located on Cape Breton Island, sitting atop a hill just three kilometres from Sydney’s downtown core. Named after Grand Chief Membertou, this community is one of five Mi’kmaq communities in Cape Breton and one of thirteen Mi’kmaq communities within the province of Nova Scotia. 

As a dynamic and thriving First Nations community, Membertou provides residents with a strong sense of identity and pride, and a unique blend of modern amenities. As Membertou continues to grow, it offers new and aspiring opportunities, whether in education, employment or cultural workshops.
