Job Description
Yarmouth Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time general surgeon to be part of a team of five general surgeons. Regular OR, endoscopy and minor procedure time are offered. The group is willing to provide some surgical assists and can help mentor a newer graduate. Responsibilities
- Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
- Work a full scope of practice as a general surgeon providing a full spectrum of general surgical services appropriate to a secondary care centre, including endoscopy
- Provide support to your own site and to others in Western Zone if required, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
- Be responsible to the Zone Department Head for Surgery for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
- Opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical graduates and residents
Expected Hours
- Permanent Full-Time
- 1:4 to 1:5 on-call requirement
Remuneration
- $350,000 to $450,000 annually - your annual income will depend solely on your own clinical output
- Fee for Service
- on-call stipends and other incentives as available through the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia

Qualifications
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support(BCLS)
